Introduction to the Control Room

Summary: The Control Room is a VancastVideo unique App that allows you to switch the contents and layouts of the event's page in real time works very much like a switcher would for your video and audio sources, This way the production team of your event can create dynamic pages for your event.

Introduction

Using the control Room an event producer can do things like:

  • Switch from one Page Template layout to another. In a conference, after the introduction, the first speaker will use slides; the producer can then switch to a layout that displays the slides next to the video. When this presenter is over and the Q&A starts the producer might use an Only-video layout.
  • Change slides within a presentation as the speaker moves on.
  • Show/hide the questions button. It allows the presenter to indicate that a question button is available and "will appear right now at the bottom of your interface"(if that's the case with the Page Template)
  • Show/hide a link to a survey when the event is almost over.
  • Display Titles or other contents on the screen
  • Change the Header Image in real time to show a sponsor for a particular section of your webcast

Access the Control Room of a particular Session from the Sessions Tab of the Event Management page:

The Control Room interface uses the same visual metaphor of the video switcher: a Preview section located on the left-hand side of the interface and a Live section on the right-hand side, which shows the different contents and settings that are currently live.

Below you can see a Control Room of an event that uses the Classic for Modern Browsers Page Template.

In the example below the event has not yet started, therefore, the Control Room shows the templates default values for each section:

When you scroll down you should see:

When using the Control Room, any order sent is synchronised with the video in real time. That means that whatever the delay a particular user might have getting the stream, the event experience is fully synchronised.
